Here's is What You Need to Know
Christmas/New Years Office Hours
The Parish Office will be closed for the Holiday on Friday, December 23, Monday, December 26 and Wednesday, December 28-Sunday, January 1st. If you have a gift you would like credit for the 2022 year, please drop off on Tuesday, December 27 between 7:30 am - 12:30 pm or give it to Fr. Todd at the 9:15 am Mass on Thursday, December 29th. We also have a drop box outside the parish office door.
You can donate online, right up until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, December 31! You can make a gift from the comfort of your own home! You can donate to St. Mary on the Lake Parish at http://connectnowgiving.parishsoft.com/stmaryonthelake
You can donate up to the last second of 2022 and have it applied to your 2022 tax year.
For mail-in donations
Contributions MUST be mailed prior to year end. This means that the donor needs to mail checks by Saturday, December 31, 2022. The envelope with the postmark is a very important piece of information. If a check dated in December 2022 is received in early January 2023 (e.g. with a January 3, 2023, postmark), the donation will be recorded in 2023. Conversely, if the check is dated December 31, 2022, and the envelope is postmarked December 31, 2022, but it is not received until January 3, 2023, the contribution will be recorded for 2022.
Your IRA & Charitable Giving
If you are required to take a minimum distribution from your IRA in 2022 or are over age 70 1/2, you can avoid the income tax through a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). The QCD giving option allows charitable contributions to be made directly from an IRA to a qualified charity such as St. Mary on the Lake Parish or another recognized charity. This can be a beneficial strategy in your charitable giving. Consult your IRA administrator or financial advisor on the proper procedures for making a direct distribution to St. Mary on the Lake Parish.
