We are in need of more volunteers to serve as Liturgical Ministers. Please help if you can.

A Liturgical Minister is simply being involved with or assisting with the Mass.

If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Linda Loveland at silverlakelinda@hotmail.com.

Below are several ways you can use your gifts and talents to bring more beauty to the Mass.

Lectors

Lector.jpg

A person who has a love of God's word and chooses to proclaim it publicly exercises the role of a lector. That person then meets with the ministry coordinator for instruction and orientation. The lector begins serving by a prepared weekend schedule, and by rotation on a voluntary basis for Holy Days, prayer services, Holy Week, etc.

This ministry involves the lector with two important tools, the Bible and the Workbook for Lectors and Gospel Readers. It is through a lector's love and understanding of God's Word that the proclamation of faith community comes alive.

Extraordinary Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) are baptized, confirmed Catholics appointed to assist priests and deacons in distributing the Eucharist when ordinary ministers are insufficient or unavailable.  They are "extraordinary" because ordinary ministers are bishops, priests, and deacons.

Choir – Our choir sings each Sunday at 9:30am Mass and Saturdays (Memorial Day-Labor Day) at 6:00pm Mass. Whether you can read music or learn through recordings, you are welcome to join. If you are new and want to give choir a try without any long-term commitment, that works, too! While we strive to have a choir year-round, we understand that individual schedules vary and conflicts arise. We meet at before Mass each Sunday to review music. If you are interested in joining our choir, please contact our Music Director Douglas at hflpublications@pm.me

At St. Mary on the Lake we welcome altar servers after they have made their First Communion. The servers assist in a variety of ways during the Mass.  Contact the parish office if your child is interested in being a server.  Training is available for new servers, and we will also place them with a regular server when they are first starting out.

Usher

Ushers are liturgical ministers of hospitality, acting as the welcoming face of the parish while ensuring Mass runs smoothly. They greet parishioners, assist with seating, take up collections, manage the flow of Communion, and handle emergencies.
