Dear Sacred Heart and St. Mary on the Lake,
Congratulations and blessings on our High School graduates! For those who will be pursuing college I have included this link to Newman ministries. It will be a help to get plugged into a good Catholic community at college. https://newmanministry.com/
Theology on Tap: This will be Friday, June 19th, at Clark Lake Golf Course from 5:30-7:30pm. There is RSVP info available on the posters in the parishes as well as in our newsblasts. I will be joining Fr. Chas Canoy (St. John the Evangelist, Jackson) and Fr. Bob Pienta (senior priest). These are always fun and informative events.
You will notice the large shipping container in the back of the School Parking lot. This is the staging point for our new windows and other supplies for the window replacement project. The project will be starting the first week of June, as soon as school is out, and they hope to have it done by August 14th. Thank you for your generosity and support in this great project! I can’t wait to see how it will look when they are done.
Celebrating Freedom: I want to continue sharing an inspiring story of freedom from Jared Feldpaush, a gentleman from my hometown. Roughly my age with a young family, he has publicly been sharing his story of finding freedom and sobriety from alcohol dependency. Here is info about an initial video he was a part of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX2Nrv8grb4
“Jared shares how alcohol turned him into someone he didn’t recognize… and how one terrifying night nearly cost him his family, his life, and his soul. From blackouts and broken trust to spiritual awakening and 300 days of sobriety, Jared’s story is a wake-up call for anyone silently struggling with addiction while keeping up appearances.”
Since that video he has made his own YouTube Channel called Small Town Sober to share his journey. As he describes it: “I am your ‘normal’ everyday alcohol abuser from small town America. I was able to hold a job, care for a family, and function seemingly just fine. On the back end I was losing my health, cognitive ability, and my family. On October 1st, 2024, after an embarrassing rock bottom, I made the hard decision to leave behind the bottle.
This is the raw story of my struggles, fears, anxieties, frustrations, accomplishments, and lessons as they unfold in real-time on my new sober journey. There are many of us out there.
We hide well among the masses. Don't be afraid to consider a lifestyle change!”
I am grateful for his courage in sharing his story in the desire to help others who are also struggling and may have no idea how life could even be different. His story is so very common and there is always reason for hope! If you happen to be struggling or know someone who is, this can be a great resource.
God Bless, Fr. Todd
