Dear Sacred Heart and St. Mary on the Lake,
Many Blessings on this Divine Mercy Sunday. A trick question I like to ask our school kids or those in faith formation is if they know what the unforgivable sin is. It is a trick question because that sin doesn’t exist. The only sin that God can’t forgive is the one that I don’t give to Him to forgive. May this Divine Mercy Sunday remind us of that great truth. If there is any sin we have been carrying around, may we respond to the grace He gives to surrender it to Him.
Now a smattering of things to share:
Seminarian Intern: We will be blessed to have a seminarian intern, Mason Abbott, with us this coming May-August. Along with participating in all our parish activities he will be leading a teaching series on the Sacraments. Dates for that series are still to be determined.
Upcoming Ordinations: June 6th, 10:30am at St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing there will be six men being ordained. We know four of them well from their time in our parishes: Dcn. Josh Bauer and Dcn. Peter Randolph will be ordained priests. James Bonar and Paul Keenan will be ordained transitional deacons. Future Fr.’s Josh and Peter will be returning to offer Masses of Thanksgiving in June.
Totus Tuus: This will be the second year we are hosting this great weeklong Catholic Summer Camp. It will be July 12-17. The Totus Tuus Program is designed for young people first grade through high school in two separate programs. It was a great week last year for all of our families and I am so happy to be able to welcome them again. The days are filled with tons of fun and great ways to learn and deepen our faith.
The middle school/high school program will run in the evenings from Sunday, July 12-17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Elementary Program for grades 1-6 runs July 13-17 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
There is no charge to attend this incredible week. If you want to support it, we suggest a $5 per child (max $20 per family) donation. Please block this on your calendar. Registration info is coming soon.
Sacred Heart AC project: We are in the last steps of finalizing quotes and project scope. The last major question we need to get answered before moving it forward is whether or not we need to upgrade the power to Sacred Heart to be able to support the units. I was (am) very much hoping to have the AC installed by June- please pray for Consumers Energy to be responsive!
Graduation Masses: These Masses will be on Sunday, May 17th. We will be blessing our high school graduates at the 9:30am Mass at St. Mary on the Lake and at the 11am Mass at Sacred Heart.
God Bless, Fr. Todd
