Dear St. Mary on the Lake and Sacred Heart,
A Blessed 2026! I am excited for the New Year and all that it holds. A few events that I would like to highlight that will be coming up so you can get them on your calendar.
• Youth Appreciation Night hosted by the Knights of Columbus- Sacred Heart, Jan 17 at 6pm.
• Trivia Night- Hosted at Sacred Heart Jan 24 at 6pm.
• Bible Study focusing on the “I am” Statements of Jesus. Jesus’ seven statements are “I am the-“ Bread of life, Light of the world, Door for the sheep, Good shepherd, Resurrection and the Life, the Way/Truth/Life, the True Vine.
◦ Our Bible Studies will be on Jan 15, 22, 29 and Feb 19 and 26. They will be at 10am at St. Mary on the Lake and 6pm at Sacred Heart, both on the same day.
• Sacred Heart School Open House Sunday, Jan 25. A great opportunity for families inquiring about school and a way for our many generous supporters to see our beautiful school. Come on by that day after the 11am Mass and see our school.
• Lenten Mission March 8-10. I am very excited for us to have an opportunity for a parish mission. It will be led by Fr. Matthew Bonk. Fr. Matthew grew up in our Diocese but joined the Redemptorist order which has a charism for preaching retreats and missions. A few years ago, Fr. Matthew discerned a call to return to the Lansing Diocese and is serving as one of our Diocesan priests. He is currently pastor of St. John Vianney in Flint. (His associate pastor is very well known to us- Fr. Daniel LaCroix.)
• Homeschool Group: Feb 12, March 12, April 9, and May 14. We meet at St. Mary on the Lake at 10am following the 9:15am Mass. I will give a presentation and then there is time for the families to hang out together.
• Mass of Anointing and Luncheon: May 7, hosted at St. Mary on the Lake. The Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am with the Anointing offered during the Mass for those in need of this Sacrament of healing. We will have a luncheon following the Mass.
• Memorial Day Mass at Calvary Cemetery-8am Mass on May 25. This annual Mass at Calvary cemetery in Hudson is a beautiful way to remember and pray for our soldiers who have died in defense of our country.
• Totus Tuus: This was a great success last year and we will be hosting the Totus Tuus teams again July 12-17. Due to the Window Replacement project at Sacred Heart School, we will be hosting Totus Tuus at St. Mary on the Lake. Keep an eye out for registration info to be coming.
God Bless, Fr. Todd
